First Kings tells the story of how power transitioned from David to Solomon. Our expectations are for greatness, but Kings reveals that power corrupts and often distracts us from God. It’s hard to see how God is at work as Israel’s kingdom collapses, but for the careful reader, there are clear signs of God’s sovereignty.
